Bits and Bobs

Well hello, hello, hello!! Not only is it Friday, but the weather here is AMAZING! High of 80 today and I'm declaring official Fall weather. I SAID I'M DECLARING IT!! (hope the weather is listening!)

Time for another edition of Friday Fragments (wooo-hooooo!) For more of these little tidbits, visit Mrs. 4444 at Half Past Kissin Time.

Let's see:
Have you ever used flylady.com? If you have trouble staying organized, keeping your house clean or anything like that, you should check it out. It's amazing and completely free!

It's time for Broiler Fest here in Crane, Missouri. What's Broiler Fest, you ask!? Well, it's a Festival celebrating the eating of many chickens (broilers are what eating chickens are called). There are carnival rides, a beauty pageant, crafters and...well, a lot of chicken to eat. That's what we're having for lunch today here at the dealership.
Now, here's the big scoop on Broiler Fest. Don Johnson (yep, the Miami Vice guy) has several family members living right in this area and every year, as long as he's not working, he comes to the Broiler Festival. Yesterday, he had lunch at Bootleggers in Aurora, MO (where I live). Last night he was at Ruby Tuesday in Springfield AND yesterday he got himself a Missouri Drivers License. hmmmm. I DO have 10 acres for sale. Wonder if he's looking for a place to build!?

My son is off to his dad's for the weekend after school today. I always say in a very cheery voice, "I'm so happy you get to see your dad this weekend. Have fun and stay safe!" But what I'm thinking is, "THIS SUCKS!"

Learning Spanish has become very difficult. Contrary to what a lot of people seem to believe you canNOT just throw el in front of every word and turn it in to spanish. EL CRAP!

OH! I still have not bought batteries for my digiscale, so I have no clue how much weight I've lost, but I'm building good habits - no soda now and tons of water, watching my portions AND...dum duh DAH!!!! getting a LITTLE exercise. It's a start.

I watched "Obsessed" starring Beyonce last night. That was pretty decent. I ended up yelling "THROW THAT BITCH DOWN THE STAIRS!" Which is EXACTLY what I would have done. Except the only stairs at our trailer are the ones on the front porch. I don't think that would have killed her, but it would have been a start.

My plans for the weekend include: STAYING HOME, RESTING & whatever else I decide to do (probably not much of anything but bask in this weather). I hope you all get to do the things you want this weekend, too!

  2. What about putting "o" at the end for Spanish words? Car-o? Hat-o? Potato-o? :-)

BTW...got the oil and potpourri today. Yum. Our mailbox smells great right now!

  3. Thanks Caution Flag, I checked out your blog and IT IS LOVELY!!

brainella - you actually got carro right!! So, we can assume that the o scenario of which you speak will work 33 percent of the time! Good odds, really! I'm glad you got your potpourri! As long as I have to go back and get more votives anyway, what sort of scents do you prefer? foods, spices, floral? a mixture??

  4. Good morning, oops, afternoon,My favorite movie with Don Johnson was "The long Hot Summer", if you haven't saw it,rent it,you'll love it. Wish I was there to go to the Broiler Fest, sounds like fun. I remember the days when my boy's went to visit their Father,it hurts. Once,I went there in the middle of the night and slept on the couch,I was worried about them. Sounds crazy now, that was a long time ago. Thank you so much for the comment about my nature sounds because I have had some negative feed back about it. I guess they can't figure out how to turn it off if they don't like it. Do you jump out of the chair when the rest of the playlist starts? If you do,Sorry. Better take your camera to the Fest,I want pix. Have a good one!

  5. Damn! I thought the only thing I came away from Spanish was 'el crapo'. Thanks for the lesson!

I have the same thoughts run through my head when I drop my daughter off to see her dad. Drives. Me. Crazy.

My husband teases me all the time that I grow feather's 'casue I could eat chicken every single and not get sick of it. I would love that fest.

And don't you even mention "fall". Here in Fla we're in the 90's.

Came your way via Mrs444. Hope you don't mind a new follower!

  7. Hmm... I was not quick enough today. I was going to suggest you try El Crappo, but it looks like someone beat me to it. Great Minds Think Alike-O!!

Oh, and did you know I used to be related to Don Johnson? NO?! Let me explain; prepare yourself, this could get tricky...

Don's aunt Caroline used to be married to my second cousin Efton. Ya know, the one that's married to Vickie, who owns the salon we used to work in? You remember Vickie... her daughter married her husband's grandson...? Yeah, I thought you'd remember that... lmao! Oh, and Caroline was a hairdresser too. she gave me my first haircut in the second grade.

    7 degrees from what? Ha!

  8. I think you're more likely to get a Spanish word right by adding an O at the end than an El in front! To be fair though, my knowledge of Spanish is not high... and I think you can make most words Dutch by tossing in random J's every now and then ;)

  9. Thanks. I AM getting to do whatever I want this weekend, which so far includes lying on the couch reading blogs all day and planning to clean the kitchen at some point :)

Broiler Fest sounds YUMMY. Glad you're continuing to take good care of yourself. Spanish, too? You're so ambitious!

    Enjoy a relaxing weekend... :)
